National Highways Sector Scheme 12b Lead Traffic Management Operative (LTMO)

Who should attend:

  • Selected candidates who will be required to Supervise traffic management on High Speed Dual Carriageways.
  • Candidates who require completing of this programme as part of their achievement to become a 12a Foreman (TMF) & Traffic Safety Control Officer (TSCO)

The aim of this course is to provide candidates with the necessary knowledge to enable them to supervise the installation, removal of static temporary traffic management measures on high-speed dual carriageway.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of the course the Learner will be able to:

  • Be able to plan the traffic management layout required to allow access a given work area
  • Be able to understand the distances required to install a range of temporary traffic management layouts
  • Be able to assess the standard and quality of equipment that is acceptable to use
  • Have an understanding of the planning required for works with relaxations
  • Have an understanding of How different works with relaxations are constructed
  • Have an understanding of How temporary hard shoulder running can be used in conjunction with works with relaxations.

Certification/Registration:

  • Registered 12b LTMO will receive a LTMO registration card valid for 5 years.
  • Candidates who are not registered as 12a/b operatives will receive a certificate which is valid for 2 years.
